Wymore & Blue Springs Community Cat Spay and Neuter Day
Uniting Our Communities to Create a Healthier Future for Outdoor Cats
Event Date: June 21st
Location: Wymore Firestation
For years, Wymore and Blue Springs have faced the challenge of an unmanaged outdoor cat populations. This year, we’re coming together to take action! The Beatrice Humane Society, alongside The Purrpose Rescue, Brave Animal Rescue, and The Cat House, is organizing a FREE spay and neuter clinic focused on community cats. Our plan is to alter, vaccinate, and ear tip, 150 cats to create a immediate impact on the outdoor cat population in Wymore and Blue Springs.
Why Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR)?
TNR is the most humane and effective solution for managing outdoor cat populations. Instead of removing cats—which only results in new unaltered cats filling the void—TNR stabilizes the population by preventing new litters. This method leads to:
- Healthier cats with vaccinations and medical care
- Reduced nuisance behaviors like mating calls and territorial marking
- Long-term population control without the "vacuum effect"
- A stronger, more animal compassionate community
